If you know home builders, the word “DEAL” is akin to one of those nasty 4-letter words that we avoid whenever possible.
However, as Utah’s leader in 55+ communities, we want to provide you with the best value possible. And while special deals are rarely a thing in today’s home-building market, this is the month for them.
Every year around Christmas, the homebuying market slows. Apparently new houses don’t fit well under most people’s Christmas trees.
It makes sense. This is one of the most festive months of the year, with parties and shopping, who has time to go house hunting. Even worse, who wants to be moving during the holidays.
But for those seeking out a deal, the Christmas season is the very best time of year to buy a house.
Why You Should Buy A House Around Christmas
Excess Inventory
When the holidays come around, especially for those of us with kids and grandkids, the Christmas season becomes centered on family. I can’t speak to starter homes, but certainly the market for active adults and seniors tends to be placed on hold for a couple months.
This means that builders like us develop a little extra inventory of ready to move in houses. Like any business, we want to keep our inventory high enough that we have something for someone if they need to move right away, but we don’t need a lot of it.
Granted, we don’t have a lot of inventory homes available, but with the slower selling season, we want to make sure we keep moving happy customers into those homes that we do have.
That means, Christmas deals. These deals are available in our Herriman, Saratoga, and Vineyard communities.
Which homes get the deals?
Naturally, these deals don’t apply to all of our homes. They only apply the homes that are completed and ready to move into, today.
Of course, we don’t expect you to move in today, but at the same time, we rarely let these homes go for more than 30-45 days from sales contract to closing.
Each inventory home has a different deal, depending on what sort of upgrades were included in the home. The best way to find out which homes have the best deals, is to visit one of our communities and ask the on-site sales representative.
How long will these deals last?
Chances are, that these deals will only last through December and possibly January, depending on how our supply of ready-to-move-in homes goes. After January, most of the holiday fervor has settled, and people start getting excited about Spring.
Since Spring is usually such a good time of year for moving, people will often begin house shopping again towards the end of January to prepare for the big move.
Hurry before they’re all gone
If you aren’t super picky about customizing your own upgrades, and/or you feel like the upgrades that our designers installed in our spec homes are exactly what you’ve been wanting, then come in today.
This is especially beneficial to you, if you are planning on moving in the near future anyway. There’s been a lot of hype about possible recessions on the horizons, but it seems that fear is subsiding. Everywhere I look, there are articles suggesting that this next recession isn’t materializing like they thought it might.
Even if it does come, the experts keep claiming that the housing market will likely be the bright star that keeps shining strongly. That means that while home prices might not rise much in 2020, they’re not likely to fall, either.
So buying a house around Christmas could very well be the best deal that homebuyers are likely to find in the coming years.
