What would a clubhouse be without a kitchen?
Nothing brings a 55+ community together like a little food.
Whether it’s a small luncheon or a grand potluck, a clubhouse needs to be a place for food.
Clubhouse Tour Part 6
How often does the kitchen get used?
Technically, these are just warming stations. We include them in each of our clubhouses. While there is never going to be any serious cooking going on here, there will be plenty of food served up.
Leisure Villas does not provide meal plans. We build senior communities for active adults 55+. If you’re looking for a meal plan, that is usually reserved for assisted living centers. We are definitely not that kind of community.
The kitchen in our clubhouse is used for parties. We help sponsor a monthly potluck dinner while we are still in charge of the HOA. But that is usually the lesser of this kitchen’s utilization.
What good is a clubhouse if you can’t reserve it for a party? If you move here, you might do so because you want more without having more. By that I mean a smaller house to take care of, but all the conveniences of a large house.
Many residents love to throw baby showers for their grandkids, bridal showers for their kids, or even just have a good family get-together. The warming station is great for setting up a bunch of extra crockpots to some light baking or stovetop or microwave preparations.
There’s plenty of countertop space for serving. Even a full-sized fridge for some of those cooler items your party may need.
Does it cost anything extra to reserve?
When you reserve the clubhouse, you automatically get the kitchen as part of that reservation. Costs for reserving may vary. Often there is a very small reservation fee, along with a deposit in case your nephew Cletus shows up with a few too many beers stored in his belly and accidentally breaks something.
If you want a more impromptu party, and the clubhouse isn’t already reserved, then it can be used on a first come, first serve basis.
The clubhouse is for you, the resident, to enjoy and use.
Want a little popcorn or some drinks while you watch a movie in the theater room? Keep a few sodas stored in the fridge and a few packets of popcorn in the cupboards for microwaving. Voilà, you’ve just improved your theater experience.
Can I cook the Thanksgiving turkey in the oven?
No. While the oven is big enough and could handle that, it is meant more for last minute warming. Since this is technically a commercial building, the kitchen has to be used exclusively as a warming station. Otherwise, it would need to be set up more like that of an actual commercial kitchen.
But that is never a problem. Usually it’s more convenient to cook at your own home anyway, then to bring the food to the clubhouse. Since the clubhouses are part of your neighborhood, it’s pretty easy to transport. It’s not like you’re bouncing an overflowing crockpot of soup across town.
Are you still undecided? Is moving to one of Leisure Villas’ communities right for you? Ask our sales representative when the next potluck dinner is. You’re specially invited to attend and see if this would be a good fit for you. We hope to see you there this month.
