Those hot summer days are here. Almost every day this week looks to be over 100 degrees outside.
Luckily, if you live in one of our active adult communities for those 55 and older, this patriotic week can be pretty cool.
Why would the Fourth of July be better in a senior community?
Well, let’s look at it.
Patriotic Seniors
Celebrating in a senior community.
For some people, fireworks will always be a special reminder of our patriotism. For others, we might want to celebrate just a little differently. Whether you like to invite the grandkids over for a pyrotechnical display, or you want to do something a little less explosive, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the Fourth of July.
In a 55+ community, like those built by Leisure Villas, you’re going to find a bunch of people who know what it means to be patriotic. Many of the homeowners here have spent time in the military or supported family there.
We know the costs of freedom.
So how do you like to celebrate?
BBQ
Even if you are taking off later to see family, watch fireworks, or simply visit the graves of fallen heroes, one of my favorites, maybe yours too, is gathering around the clubhouse and having a community bbq. You’ll find all of our clubhouses have a natural gas bbq grill out on the back deck. What better way to celebrate this special day, than to get a group of friends from your 55+ community together for hot dogs and hamburgers.
If you get too hot, the bbq grill and patio is right next to the swimming pool. Go ahead and cool off. You’ve got ice in your drink and your burger can wait.
Would you rather keep the celebration at home? Why not? The Fourth is a great time for grilling. Since we offer the option of plumbing natural gas to your home’s patio, you can grill to your heart’s delight, while never having to lug around those heavy propane tanks.
Outdoors
Sometimes it’s nice to just get away from the noise. Especially when it’s hot, a trip up the canyon or into the mountains can be very relaxing.
Maybe if you can drag your grandkids away from the fireworks for a night, you can even get a camping trip in.
Perhaps you just like to hang out in the evening on the pool deck and swap stories. Let the neighbors spend all their money on fancy fireworks. You’ve seen them all before, and can just enjoy the warm night air.
Whatever you do,
Try not to do it alone. The best part about living in a retirement community, is that you are surrounded by other people around your same age. If you don’t have plans with the family, make plans with your friends.
Our clubhouses are convenient ways to get together and enjoy the holiday, but you don’t have to be bound to our communities’ amenities. Get a group together and go play.
At Leisure Villas, lifestyle is priority, and in behalf of all of us here, we wish you a great Fourth of July week.
